I'll definitely consider volunteering in a museum though, and I think I probably will take History. Thanks again for the advice.Ameenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03141624987257713894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-88759862385027089.post-17470420402507192492011-08-22T02:41:31.224+01:002011-08-22T02:41:31.224+01:00What to study can be a really tough choice, especi...What to study can be a really tough choice, especially if you are undecided as to what you want to do later on.

For me and my colleagues archaeology is a 'normal' career ... not a very well paid one, it's true; but, it is possible to make a living doing what you love if you really want to.

What you study at A-level may channel your choices/options for a particular type of job or subject area in further education. However, I don't imagine taking History would necessarily hinder you in any way, but it all depends on what you are aiming for really.

My best advice would be to volunteer - do some work experience at a museum or go on an archaeological 'dig' in your summer holidays to find out more and see if you like it. That's really how I got started. But if you'd rather have a job that pays well, all is not lost, you can always keep archaeology or museum volunteering as a hobby.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11641833714036731203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-88759862385027089.post-56775434258411798622011-08-20T17:16:45.746+01:002011-08-20T17:16:45.746+01:00Looks interesting, I might read it.

From the age of 10, I wanted to be an Archaeologist! But as time passed, I seem to to have lost my interests and now I feel more pressured to look for a 'normal' career like everyone else.

Now, at 16 I am due to choose my A levels in a week. My instincts tell me to pick History and I'm confused. Would you say it is wise to change my career prospects? I have no idea what I want to be when I am older, and I don't want to make the wrong decisions. All I know is that I'm interested in History but I don't think I have the ability or enough knowledge to go pursue my dreams.

Sorry for the long essay. :P If you could give me any advice I would appreciate it. Thanks. :)Ameenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03141624987257713894noreply@blogger.com
